Cal State LA students might not know these services are open with new hours this semester.

Wondering what services are available for students during these virtual times?

Even though classes are being held virtually until Feb. 14, the University Times compiled a list of resources that are available to students. Many of the services are currently online, but there are some that are still available in-person.

The Admissions office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students can receive help here with any concerns regarding how to apply or transfer. The Admissions staff can assist students with any concern regarding tuition and the application process to become a Golden Eagle.

The Financial Aid and Scholarships office is open for both in-person walk-ins and virtual appointments. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, walk-ins are only accepted during specific hours. Walk-in hours on Monday to Thursday are from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Walk-in hours on Fridays are from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.

If students can’t make it in person, they can also receive virtual assistance for any financial aid inquiries. Students must make an appointment to meet virtually with a financial advisor. The dates for the appointments are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.

The food court is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Inside the building, students can find Pollo Loco open from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Carl’s Jr. from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Spot from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The schedule will be changing once in-person classes resume.

The University Student Union and the recreation center are still open and available for students.  Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Students can enter the gym and workout all while staying safe by following the COVID-19 protocols.

The Student Health Center is available for students by appointment only. The office’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some of the services provided include health screenings, counseling and psychological services, immunizations, and psychiatric services.

The Career Center is currently assisting students virtually via Zoom. The office will resume its in-person services as of Feb. 14 when classes are expected to return in-person. The Career Center can help students look for jobs and assist them with resumes and cover letters.

The Cal State LA Bookstore is still open to all students and staff. Its hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The library is open in case students need a place to study or to print out an assignment. The temporary hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ITS Help Desk is also located inside the library.

The Center for Student Involvement is currently offering all of its services online until students return back to in-person. They offer a series of workshops and activities to help students cope with stress and to gain knowledge on topics such as financial wellness.

The food pantry is continuing to provide students with food. During remote instruction from Jan. 24 to Feb. 11, they are only providing curbside pick up. Students must be currently enrolled in classes to sign up online, and then they will be able to schedule a pick up time.

Academic advising is also still available virtually for students on Zoom. Students can join their drop-in hours or make an appointment to meet with an advisor.
